Meg Hughey is a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) candidate and Oncology Registered Nurse focusing on the intersection of cancer and nutrition. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at the University of Maryland School of Nursing and her Master of Science in Human Clinical Nutrition at Maryland University of Integrative Health.
Meg’s experience as an Oncology Nurse sparked her pursuit to bridge the gap between conventional oncology treatments and complementary cancer therapies, such as nutrition. As an Integrative Clinical Nutrition Nurse, Meg collaborates with clients and their cancer support teams to improve quality of life and highlight the beneficial role nutrients and whole foods provide to those experiencing cancer.
Under the guidance of Dr. Frederick P. Smith, MD, Meg became an expert in administering chemotherapeutic and immunologic agents to cancer patients. During this time, she discovered the growing need of high-level personalized nutrition therapy for those with cancer.
With this newfound realization and her husband’s shocking cancer diagnosis, Meg was determined to offer nutritional support and fill this gap by pursuing an advanced degree in nutrition and integrative health. While obtaining her Master’s degree, she also worked at Capital Integrative Health providing IV Nutrition Therapy, such as high dose intravenous vitamin C, to those experiencing cancer.
Meg continues to advocate for those experiencing cancer and tirelessly works to spread awareness of the deep care, nourishment, and healing that may be found through complementary and integrative nutrition support.
