Biography
Mindy A Patterson, PhD, RDN is an Associate Professor of Nutrition at Texas Woman's University (TWU) Institute of Health Sciences in Houston, Texas, and the Founder of NutriCision LLC (Renutrin prebiotic supplements). As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Patterson examines dietary intake patterns, including foods and supplements high in the prebiotic known as resistant starch for the prevention of obesity-related disorders. She also identifies microbiome profiles eliciting specific physiological responses to resistant starch and other dietary components. Patterson is a Fellow of the Texas Academic Leadership Academy, a Distinguished Dean's Fellow, and a member of the Institutional Review Board at TWU-Houston. She currently serves on the editorial board for Nutrition Research and as a review editor for Frontiers in Nutrition. In 2023 she was recognized as a Houston Role Model in Women in the Fast Lane of STEAM. Her research has been featured in Women's Health, New Scientist Magazine, Prepared Foods Magazine, Nature Research, Houston Chronicle, the New York Times, and National Geographic.
