​Growing up I always had an interest in food.  I was eager to try new foods and I was curious about the role nutrients played in our bodies.  I loved science and I knew this would be the right path for me.  I received my Bachelor of Science in nutrition from Russell Sage College and completed an accredited combined Masters of Science and dietetic internship program at Case Western Reserve University in conjunction with the Louis Stokes VAMC in Cleveland, Ohio. Soon after graduating, I began my career at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL.  The experience I received there was almost indescribable.  I worked in intensive care, cardiac intensive care with the heart transplant program, oncology, bone marrow transplant, weight management, failure to thrive, food allergies, gastrointestinal disorders and more, but my true calling was ketogenic diets for seizure control.  I also consulted with Nutricia North America, the makers of KetoCal, as an ambassador to new ketogenic centers.  Teaching and spreading awareness about the life changing effects of ketogenic diets by 1-1 consults, group classes, webinars, and speaking engagements is my calling. In 2013, We moved to Central New York and I took a short break from the profession to focus on our growing family.  During this time I loved learning about natural remedies, gardening and even began to raise chickens! I returned to the professional world of nutrition in 2016 working as a renal dietitian with one of the largest global dialysis companies.  It was during this time I started Real Nutrition By Crystal to fulfill my dream of private practice.  I am a "forever student" and in addition to learning the nuts and bolts of running a business, I received a certificate of training in childhood and adolescent weight management and am training to become a Certified LEAP Therapist (also known as a CLT).  CLT's specialize in food sensitivity and are leaders in getting to the root cause of health issues.
