I’m Sam Turner, founder of The Vegan Fitness Academy. I’ve been vegan for nearly 3 years, and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. Better sleep, more energy, and improved overall health—the benefits are endless. Like many vegans, I often think, "Why didn’t I do this sooner?"
Growing up on the beautiful island of Anglesey, I’ve always had a passion for sports. From competitive football to athletics (specialising in the 100m and 200m), and regional rugby. Sports have always been at the heart of my life. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of learning from incredible coaches, including a Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist and former Welsh rugby internationals.
But life hasn’t been without its challenges. A severe wrist injury derailed my studies and left me in a tough place. I lost 20kg of muscle, gained weight, and struggled with my mental health. However, through therapy, the support of my amazing wife, and rediscovering my love for fitness, I’ve turned my life around. My wife also introduced me to veganism, and after educating myself about the realities of animal welfare, animal farming, and its environmental impact, I knew I had to make a change.
Now, I’m a Level 3 qualified Personal Trainer, working towards Level 4 certifications in Nutrition for Athletic Performance, Strength & Conditioning, and more. My mission at The Vegan Fitness Academy is to combine modern training methods and the power of a plant-based diet to help you reach your goals.
