Dr. Washington is an American Board-certified anesthesiologist and pain management specialist. She completed her residency at the University of Pennsylvania and moved to Pinehurst, NC in 2001 to work at Womack Army Medical Hospital for 7 years before joining Pinehurst Surgical Clinic. Dr. Washington studied Functional Medicine with The Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM) followed by a yearlong Fellowship with Wild Health Precision Medicine and became a IFM certified practitioner in 2023. Dr. Washington is fascinated by the way Functional Medicine changes the way we think about chronic disease and how we treat it. In conjunction with identifying the underlying causes of disease and looking for specific gene mutations, Dr. Washington is highly skilled at addressing lifestyle changes to reduce the effects of chronic disease while improving performance, recovery, and longevity. As co-owner of Southern Pines CrossFit and a Level One Instructor, Dr. Washington lives her passion that exercise is fundamental to good health. Under the proper guidance, exercise is accessible to everyone – directed movement to reap the incredible rewards of exercise — and directly contributes to positive treatment outcomes in cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and myriad other chronic conditions.
