We’re wrapping up a pretty huge year for us here at Cronometer. We’re still a relatively small company, but 2017 saw a lot of growth in our business.
Our customer-base grew nearly 100% over last year, and we passed a major milestone in March, getting our one millionth signup! We added 4 new full-time staff to our team, bringing our total to 9 fine folks.
We want to thank all the Gold subscribers who have supported us this year. Without your support, we wouldn’t have accomplished any of this!
Features & Design
We continued to roll out a number of new features, large & small. We added support for Polar devices, some new Search tabs & Favorites to make searching the ever-growing food database easier, and the Oracle Food Suggestions feature to suggest foods to meet your daily targets. We launched a Cronometer University youtube series, and a searchable Pro Directory for our users to find cronometer-savvy health care professionals in their area.
We launched our brand new community forums. The new forums are much easier to use and unlike the old forums, they share a single sign-on with your cronometer.com account.
We added a full-time UI designer to the team and have started the long process of revamping much of our existing user experience. We rolled out a brand new design for our mobile app, making the Diary easier to use and more fully featured, and a redesigned signup flow. We’ve only just gotten started on making our app both easier on the eyes and more intuitive to use.
Curation Team
Three of our new hires formed our new nutrition data curation team. They are focussed on active curation of our nutrition database. They spend each day reviewing user food submissions, entering missing items, and fixing any errors reported by our customers, and much more.
Books
We got some great promotion from several books published in 2017 that dished out some praise for Cronometer to their readers:
The Year Ahead
Looking to 2018, we want to continue the momentum we’ve gained this year. We’ll continue to focus on our three key areas:
- Investing heavily in improving the overall design and usability of our app
- Building our curation team and tools to cement our lead in having the best and most comprehensive nutrition data on the market.
- Several exciting new features for our Gold subscribers. Stay tuned!
We hope you keep those Gold subscriptions going — we have big plans and depend on your continued support. Not just to keep the lights on, but to continue growing our team so we can get all these goodies out to you in 2018 and beyond.
From all of us at Cronometer.com We wish you all a happy new year and we hope we can play a key roll in the success of any resolutions!
