Log Your Dog is an Easter egg tucked inside Cronometer’s Photo Logging tool. Upload a photo of your dog or cat and you get a food match and a full Nutrition Facts label, built entirely from their shape, color, and general vibe. Nothing about it is measured, verified, or real, and every card says so directly: entirely fictional, for smiles only. It launched today, August 26th, for International Dog Day, and it’s staying in the app permanently. Fur-ever. Same tool that identifies your lunch to the gram. As of this morning, it also has opinions about dogs.
It started with half a buttermilk biscuit
Last year, Cronometer Gold user Eliana was trying Photo Logging and pointed it at her teacup poodle, Teddy, just to see what would happen. The result: half a buttermilk biscuit. She posted it on Bluesky, our Community Manager Eliisa had a laugh and then logged her own dog, and Log Your Dog was born out of that exchange. From there it got out of hand. Half the team started logging their own dogs to see what came back, then the results started circulating internally, and at some point it stopped being a bug worth mentioning and became a thing we clearly had to build.
So here’s what we actually built. We pointed Cronometer’s precision engineering, the same analysis that identifies a real meal from a photo, at your fur baby, and had it return a comprehensive Nutrition Score card: shape, color, and perceived size in, and a full label of traits out. Entirely fictional, for smiles only, and scored as though your dog were a delightfully wholesome little snack. Every possible result was written and reviewed, the layout is correct in light and dark mode, and the disclaimer is printed where you can’t miss it. The card that tells you your greyhound is a croissant went through review. Twice. Croissants are held to a high standard here.
The Nutrition Facts Card breakdown
It’s three taps. Open Photo Logging and upload a photo of your dog or cat. Cronometer reads the photo, shape, color, and perceived size, anywhere from mini muffin to family-sized lasagna, and returns a food match with a full Nutrition Facts card built from those traits. A one-tap Share button sits right on the card.
The matches lean wholesome, mostly bakery, produce, breads, desserts, and things with fun textures. Cornflakes. Croissant. Beef Stew. Cinnamon Roll. Serving sizes are part of the joke, one medium bowl, one miniature size, one tiny cinnamon swirl.
On the label itself, the nutrient breakdown is swapped for traits. For example: Wiggles, Low-key. Nap Mode, 94%. Side Eye, Classic. Boop Factor, High. Paw Drape, Expert. Treat Radar, Online. Wiggle Rate, Ear Floof, Snoot Focus, Cozy Level, Floor Patrol.
The disclaimer is not fine print, it’s the whole promise: entirely fictional, for smiles only. There’s no claim here about what your dog or cat should eat. The one genuinely careful thing we did here was screen every possible result, so no card can land on a pet’s weight, health, or how well you’re looking after them. All the rigor went into the engineering. None of it went into the answer. This is the one corner of Cronometer where the answer is made up on purpose.

We built this feature, but we’ve only seen our own dogs in it. Teddy was half a buttermilk biscuit. Somebody’s greyhound is a croissant, somebody’s cat is a cinnamon roll, and we have no idea which until you upload the photo. That’s the fun of it, and it’s why we’re asking to see yours.

It remains considerably better at the actual lunch part.

Final thoughts
We built Log Your Dog because a user pointed her camera at her dog and made us laugh, and because we happened to be the kind of company that wanted to build the joke properly once we saw it. Precision is still the name of the game, every day, for food that goes in your Diary. This is just the one place we get to have fun with it out loud. Your dog, or your cat, is next. Teddy set a high bar at half a biscuit.
